So last week marked 3 weeks of training to go, which is traditionally time to start tapering for a big event. In practice this means dropping the training down a notch or two each week until race day. In reality however I took the piss and dropped it about 10 notches and actually trained slightly less than my Mum, and she couldn’t walk at all after her knee op!
I was tired, drained, and had aching legs most of the week. Up until Sunday I managed 2 x short bike session, 1 x swim session, 1 x short run. Really CBA with anything more.
So Sunday comes around and it is time for the annual Birchwood 10km – great to see so many familiar faces there. The Runners World crew were there: Min, DTS, The Luverly Suzie, Lunacy, Will, Fat Face. Tripe Talk was represented by Brownyboi, and some peeps from work who had stupidly let themselves get talked into doing it were there: Jo, Neil, James, Ste, Paulo.
Everyone had a fab performance, including another PB for Min…superb!
Last week of proper training this week….just 12 days to go.
